HORSES
REGENMANN - "REG"
17.2hh 9 year old Trakehner
"Reg" came to me as a 6 year old. He was imported by an amateur dressage rider and Trakehner breeder, but proved "too spooky" as a pure dressage horse - so I bought him with the absurd idea to make him an event horse! He literally wouldn't walk over a colored rail when I got him, and our first attempt at a hack out took 2+ hrs to get more than 500 yards from the stable!
Reg is kind natured, very trusting, and always aiming to please - definitely my "heart horse"! He is an old soul, and adores children and dogs. And food! He's deceptively large bodied for a Trakehner and we struggle with his weight and fitness. He has to constantly be on a diet and do more fitness days per week than schooling days.
He loves to go to competitions and you can feel him change attitude when he first hacks around the showgrounds and surveys "his" domain. He's very sensitive, but loves the show atmosphere.
His favorite things are cookies and having his tongue scratched. His pet hates are tarps, plastic bags, and anything sliding on the ground near him like lead ropes or hoses.

MONTERREY LA SILLA - "MONTY"
17.0hh 8 year old Hanoverian Thoroughbred Cross
Also called "baby Donkey", Monty's full of life and a total cartoon character. Similar in many ways to the Donkey character in Shrek, Monty is mischievous and always destroying something. He's a very busy mind and loves activity in the stable. He's kind and adores children, especially when they play with him.
He came to me as a project. He'd been bred to be a GP show jumper, but a troubled and inconsistent start left him a very challenging horse to form a partnership with. He's very stubborn and opinionated -- our first attempt to school water on XC took some 2.5 hrs just to get him in the water! And once IN, he refused to get out!
He's very smart and often thinks he knows best. Being 1/2 TB he finds it easier to get fit, and we spend more time trying to keep his mind occupied and working to improve his work on the flat, which he doesn't find as naturally easy as jumping.
His favorite things are his red jolly ball and a stuffed toy Donkey that both accompany him to all shows - and anything that makes noise or can be tossed. He dislikes being ignored and having his mane in braids.
